Russo bros to direct Millie Bobby Brown

The Russo Brothers, best known for bringing Marvel’s The Avengers to the masses, are set to direct Millie Bobby Brown in the upcoming Netflix film The Electric State

Netflix has picked up AGBO’s The Electric State (Simon & Schuster), an adaptation that will see the unique novel by Simon Stålenhag come to the screen.

In what is being hailed as a Stranger Things meets The Road, The Electric State is set in a post-apocalyptic 1997, and follows the story of an orphaned teenager Michelle (Millie Bobby Brown) who travels the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot named Skip and a drifter in search of her younger brother.

If you haven’t had a chance to get to know the novel, it’s a sublimely told and visually stunning story, which offers up its own brand of uniqueness that features a hundred gorgeous, full-colour illustrations. The Russos have a lot to work with, and it will be interesting to see how this melancholy albeit, achingly beautiful novel is translated to film.
Rumors surfaced earlier this year that Chris Pratt was in talks to co-star. While it’s not official, sources say the actor is still in the discussion phase with regards to boarding the project.

The film, which is adapted for the screen by Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, is set to be directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo.
